  • Display and edit VrayUserScalar into the viewport or outside the Material Editor

    Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to display and modify the value of the VrayUserScalar directly into the viewport or quicly accessible without opening the material editor.

We use a lot a VraySwitchMaterial with the VrayUserScalar as input to switch materials and it's quite timeconsuming to open every time the material editor, find the material, change the value,..

Maybe something like the Wire/Slider parameter to choose a stepped value like 0,1,2,3,4,... and it will change the material ?

    Thank you

Don't you mean the VRayUserScalar's attributes on the objects? How have you set up your shader?

Here is an simple exemple of a shader type we use. Nothing to fancy.
It's just we have to deal with a lot of materials per scene. We have to do a lot a iterations of products (Color, materials, logos, ..).
And it would be great to be able to switch materials without opening the material editor.

Its more a Max question than a VRay question in the absolute.

I wrote you a script, which should do the job. It's basically a slider with integer values between 0 and 10, which controls the VRayUserScalar (and VRaySwitchMtl Switch value for preview). Works for multiple objects. Try it out. You can make a button out of it if you wish.
