  • VrayDisplacementMod on an object with multi sub/object mtl

    Hello,

This subject may have already been covered, sorry if that's the case.

Is it possible to apply a VrayDisplacementMod modifier to an object with multi sub/object material, excluding certain faces of the object?
In my case, I have a simple kitchen cabinet door, on the face I have a material with displacement and on the edges I have another material without displacement.

I know I can divide my door to have one object for the edges and another object for the face, but it's not very practical, and takes a lot longer to model.

I also know that you can use "use object mtl" and the Vray mtl "displace", but you lose the more precise properties of the Vray Displacement Mod...

Perhaps there's an option in the displacement mod modifier that I haven't seen?

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Edit : I work with Vray 5 2.3 and 3dsMax 2023

This is the way to do it. You do not lose control over the properties. You might be thinking that the Default Displacement properties (Render Setup> Settings) will be used, however, the VRayDisplacementMod overrides them.

Yes, indeed, that's what I thought.
I stupidly got stuck with it...
Thank you very much, it works very well.
