  • Baking decals to texture?

Is it possible to bake Vray Decals to a texture on the object which the decal is projecting on to?

Basically I have a ball, with Decals controlling the texture. I now want to take the ball into Tyflow to animate and deform.

When I try Bake to Texture in Max, nothing is showing.

    Any ideas?

    Hi, thanks for posting.

Off the top of my head it does not make sense for this to work. I will research it a bit further and get back to the thread.

I have a workaround at the moment, turning the decal material into a vraylightmaterial and then baking a completemap with no other lights. Luckily I can use this as an alpha map for my texture, which is procedural.

But it would be useful to know if we can bake the complete decal to another object, as i'm sure this would be very useful for real-time applications.

Hi, VRayCompleteMap and VRayDecal works in my tests. Have you tried to bake a VRayCompleteMap?
