The Corona Tonemap Control Map is very useful for excluding objects from having tone mapping applied to them. Is there anything like this in V-Ray? I have some backplates and no matter how I color correct them, I can't get them to look like the original texture in the VFB.

Not that I am aware of, but it does seem like a good idea to have. Otherwise, those backplates are objects, right? You can ignore Exposure issues by applying a VRayLightMtl to them and checking the Compensate Camera Exposure option. Also, you could use a regular environment background instead and disable the "Affect Background" in the Color mapping options.

Yes, I'm using planes in the scene with VrayLightMtl applied to them. Thanks for the suggestions!Max 2023.2.2 + Vray 6 Update 2.1 ( 6.20.06 )

Or just do it Affinity/Fusion/Natron/whatever.Max 2023.2.2 + Vray 6 Update 2.1 ( 6.20.06 )

load it into VRayOCIO map
convert colorspaces: output srgb to linear srgb.
feed that linearized map into VRayLightMtl.
