  • Compositing a fast SSS2 render element in photoshop

Hoping someone smarter than me has figured this one out. I have no problems with compositing typical material render elements (basically just set all layers add blend modes) in Photoshop. But I have a project now using a fast SSS2 material. I can't be certain that I don't have another unrelated problem, but the non SSS2 part looks just fine, so I'm assuming that's where the issue lies. When I set that layer to add it blows out the whites, and no other mode seems to help, so I'm thinking that it might have to be combined with some other element in some more complicated sort of way. Has anyone worked with this? thanx

Did you refer to this? https://docs.chaos.com/display/VMAX/VRaySSS2 which is adding over the beauty pass.

fast sss does not output raw sss, which is what you need. In this case you need to divide the sss aov by the diffuse to get the raw sss which then you can plus on top of the main render aov setup.

fixeighted yes that page and their back to beauty page both imply that adding is all that's necessary, which isn't working for me. But hopefully Dmitry's comment is the solution. I'm half asleep right now and will test tomorrow.
Thanx Dmitry, I'll do some tests tomorrow and write back then.
