Hello,
In our studio, we currently use the native xRef system in 3ds Max, but it's quite outdated, buggy, and inflexible. I've been wondering if anyone has tried or knows whether it's possible to assemble different parts of scenes using VrayScene. For example, we have a main file that contains several Vray scenes (architecture_HERO.vrscene, landscape.vrscene, greenery.vrscene), each saved by exporting from a dedicated Max scene.
Recently, I've delved into Pixar's USD and am very excited about how well-organized and effective it is, especially for teamwork. I was looking to implement something similar in 3ds Max. I know there is a USD plugin for 3ds Max, but it is still in development and offers quite limited functionality.
