  • Link light intensties

I always have many LEDs in my scene of different length so I can't instance them as I would, say a spot (disc) lights, which usually have the same radius. I still want a lot of my LEDs to have the same intensity and control them all together. How do I do that?
    Thanks!

One method is to use a vraycolor in the texture slot and control them from there. You can set the color or the multiplier in the vraycolor to values greater than 1.0

Thanks, interesting. I was sure there was one other way that I saw somewhere but I can't remember.

You can certainly link them with maxscript. Or use any number of bulk modify scripts as well.

Iā€™m sure someone else will chime in with their solution. There are usually quite a number of ways to do things.

The texture method would let you set differing base values per light with their intensities, and then control them all in sync with the vray color.

          You can try V-Ray Lister.

That's a nice method too! And I just remembered, parameter wiring! Takes a bit but could be a good way of doing it.

Another way, that I sometimes use if it needs to go fast, but not sure if it's goes against 'the rules': I just scale in one direction. So if I have a planelight that is instanced across the scene with the same multiplier, than I scale in X or Y according to what is necessary.
              A.
