  • Projecting mov file's

Does anyone have a good technique for projecting mov files during a vray animation?
I need a few movies to be playing on screens during a walk though. I tried to apply a mov as a bitmap, but it just crashes. Should I use a camera?
    Thanks.

You should be able to use animations as bitmaps, I've done it before, it just might create havoc with your lighting calculations.

You might be better off compositing it using Combustion or the like.

i would recommending reencoding the .mov into sequential frames.

yes, processing frames would be best you can do it through ram player even. Becayse mov's wont render thruogh the network if you do backburner rendering.

I'm not sure I understand, are you suggesting breaking up the movie into frames and then applying each frame as a seperate bitmap that corresponds to each frame of the walk-though? That seems like a lot of work. Is there a light that can project a mov file?

you can apply a sequence of bitmaps to a light.

no, its simple, once you render your quicktime into a frames i.e. file0001.tga - file0100.tga then you go load bitmap and check sequence option, this will bring the entire frames as a range into max. And in the bitmap there is an option of time control which allows you to adjust the position of playback and so on.
