  • Difference between VrayEnvironmentFog transparency and Fog distance?

    Hi

I know that fog distance is how far you can see in the fog and transparency, well is the transparency. But what really is the difference there? I can't see any difference if the fog distance is high and the transparency colour is almost black and if the distance is low and the colour is almost white.

    Hi, thanks for posting.

I think the docs page about VRayEnvironmentFog explains it very good. There are also examples, please examine them.

Fog distance – Controls the fog density. Larger values make the fog more transparent, while smaller values make it more dense. You can also control the density with a texture map. For more information, see The Fog Distance example below.
Fog transparency – Controls the color of the volumetric shadows and the tint for the objects seen through the fog. Brighter colors make the fog more transparent, while darker colors make it more dense at a distance given by the Fog distance parameter. For more information, see the Fog Transparency example below.
If you used gray scale colours for the transparency the effect could be similar to what the fog distance parameter does but this is only with grayscale.

Oh yeah, you can use textures in transparency. I forgot that because the texture slot is below the other settings.

      Thanks.
