  • Help with turbid water

I'm pretty new to Vray. Been working in Arnold for years. I've got a scene with dirty, silt-filled water I've created with Phoenix. I can't really get the water to look right. Has anyone done really turbid water? Below are my settings.

For turbid water I would use Volumetric translucency instead of SSS
Just set Fog and scatter color and play with Depth
Do u have any reference of what you want to achieve?
    Hope this helps

      Hi Carlos,
I tried your approach, and it was very helpful. I can't tell that much of a difference in the look, but it was easier to dial in the best looking water this way. Plus the increase in render speed by using Volumentric vs SSS translucency was pretty dramatic too. Thanks for the tip!

Im glad that it helped, volumetric is intended to use for thin objects (glass, water) SSS is more for hard surfaces (skin, marble, wax) if you use SSS you have 2 options, directional and uniform, if you want speed use directional, its not accurate but its faster.
You can read all of this in the Docs
