  • matching acescg renders between maya and max (2024)

im collaborating with some maya guys. ive carefully copied all their colour settings and im using their ocio file.

however, particularly the hdri sky, does not match, its got more magenta in it.

frustratingly maya seems to have a load more options for color space transfer in the bitmap loader so i cant match their setting precisely.

here are the maya options, including their chosen one:

here are my (limited) options, none of which seem to provide a 100% match. youd think srgb would be the right one, but its too magenta.

    any suggestions?

For a single texture, you could use the VRayOCIO tex, where you load the same OCIO config as the Maya people, and set the In value as "Rec.709" and Out to ACES.

ok thanks for the reply. just for completeness, i plug the vraybitmap into the vrayocio, and follow the steps above. however what do i set the colorspace settings in the vraybitmap to? they still affect the final result.

Raw, I presume, so as the only corrections applied are from the VRayOCIO.
