Control light "barn doors" individually

Hi

I'm trying to create wide laser beam in a fog. The way I would like it to be, is a single small light source and narrow but wide beam that's coming out from it. Anyone have any idea how to do it? If I make wide but narrow light and use the directionality of the light, the result will be just flat illuminating plane in the fog and it should be triangle shaped.

Maybe an emissive fog in an appropriately shaped gizmo would work? With a light source to blend into it...might work.

There it is, thank you! Works quite nice.
Gizmo falloff doesn't work with GPU, but I can live with that.

Oh that's cool, glad it worked out. I would have tested the theory but I'm having a software meltdown at the moment so out of action.
