  • Vray 7 vfb render mask

using IPR vray 7 seems to render only the object selected...even when render mask is set to "none'. IOW if I have an object selected, render mask = "none" and click interactive render, it will render only the selected object vs rendering the entire scene. This does not seem quite right and is a new behavior in comparison to previous vray version?

If I have IPR running and I select an object to move it or etc, then it blacks out the rest of the scene and only renders that selected object.

also happens if I do not have any object selected but I adjust the material properties. IPR then renders only the selected object. Makes for a problematic workflow.

Hi Carlos. I may be missing something but your attached video does not quite show what I’m describing.

Have render mask set to none for each operation listed below.

1)Select an object. Choose IPR rendering and now only the selected object renders.

2)Have no objects selected. Start IPR. Select an object amd move it. Now only the selected object is rendered and the rest if the scene is black/ not rendered.

      3) Have no objects selected. Start IPR. Adjust a material parameter like reflection amount for the material of an object i. The scene. Now only the selected object is rendered and the rest if the scene is black/ not rendered.

Hmmm. Well I’m not sure how to record those animated screengrabs. BUT a possibility important part Inleft out. I am using an overide material in the vfb to get my scene composition and lighting set.

            Hi OPEN_RANGE,

Not sure I am able to reproduce such behavior either - can you quickly check if you have the IPR Debug Shading - Isolate Selected option enabled (and if so - disable it)? That could be causing what you describe. Otherwise a screen-recording or some screengrabs to demonstrate the behavior might help us to better identify this.

              Hi Nikoleta,

You identified the issue. I never use debug shading (maybe I should give it a try). and did not notice the button for it was enabled by default in my new install of Vray 7.

All good now and thanks for your help!
