  • Distribuited Rendering & Backburner: still needed?

    Hi,
    I've setup new 4 machine.
Firstly I've setup 2 machine with hardware quite similar.
I've installed 3dsmax (2022 as I'm still on it with my workstation) and the correct Vray5 installation file.
Everything was fine and I can use it as DR machine with no problem at all.

After that, I've setup 2 other machine with the same hardware of one of the first 2.
    Installed 3dsmax and Vray.
If I try to render with them, it seems starting, vraylog said to me that render started but in my VFB I don't see any bucket and, after a while, the vraylog said me that the slave had terminated.

Trying to understand what's wrong, I've checked the official docs on this and I've read something that seems strange: "Autodesk Backburner is not installed on the Render Server. To function properly, V-Ray DR requires Autodesk Backburner to be installed on each Render Server"
I remember that in the previous years it was actually needed...but, as in the first 2 machine I haven't installed backburner and they works, could I ignore this and check something different on the machines that don't work?

Sorry for the late reply. Not sure why the first pair of machines don't yield the errors; maybe Backburner is in fact installed (check C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Backburner). Otherwise, do the warning disappear after you've installed Backburner on the second pair?

Sorry I don't update you but after a while (and some tests) I wrote my post. everything goes right and now it's working, without install backburner.
At the moment I don't remember which setting change solved...so sorry.. I'm not so useful.
