  • Vray 7 Luminaires

Trying to understand how we can control luminaires and keep proper Lx, Lm values. when I import a light from chaos cosmos, it comes super warm, way too orange, in the luminaire I use a colour temperature of 30000 and, stil get a fairly warm light when it should be super blue and cold, and by using a tint method and loosing the correct light intensity is not great for arch viz either.
So far I prefer to use vray lights instead of luminaires, but I do not know if there is a better workflow or something I am missing with luminaires.
Thanks for any help or explanation.

Hi. The Luminaires come with a baked temperature in them. The color swatch in the menu has an additive function, and not an override function. We are familiar with this behavior and we hope that we will be able to provide a better experience with future improvements.

I'm hoping for the next update to have the luminaire color override the color of the fixture, hopefully that will help.

      Best regards,

Hi guys. Please can we have a tut on how to create our own lumaire files...if that's even possible. For custom lighting that is unavailable in the cosmos library. I'm not seeing anything self-explanatory here to customise light shape.

        Thanks

There's no tool for generating Luminaire files available for users. The only provided Luminaire files are the ones in the Chaos Cosmos libraries.

There must be a work around as all files are programmed and written, in a text format. Am I wrong ?

.vlw files are not written as text data.

                Ah, that's a pity.

Can we request some higher-end light fittings for the Cosmos Library then? Vibia, Flos, Bocci etc

The plan would be to eventually have a tool to allow users to bake their own fixtures, It's just not quite ready yet, and the Luminaires' code itself is still evolving.
