  • Distributed net render

Actually it seem it's not possible to use DR with net render.
Is it planned this feature for future releases of vray?
    (It would be wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

DR does not work with backburner. Likely this will not be implemented because it would require modifications to backburner (which is not a Chaos product).

There is an alternative however, you can use the "split scanline" option when netrendering to achieve the same thing.

Remember, backburner is not only usefull for animations, but also a render manager to manage a bunch of stills from many different max files.

            That would be great.

I really want to be able to set up 15 seperate renders overnight using DR, but this is currently impossible to my knowledge unless you have 15 computers. I can only do 3 at a time, and because they start at the same time I have to make sure they don't overlap dr slaves.

also i wonder if selection of your DR slaves in vrays settings is a setting saved per in each project, or if its a vray setting and is concistent through each project no matter how it was configured in eack project

I don't see how this would be a timesaver. If I understand correctly, you have three machines. Rendering 15 stills through DR will get the initial rendering done quicker (approx. a third of the time ) but the total processing time for all images still remains the same so it will finish all 15 images in about the same time as it would take through the normal backburner pocess. It would probably take even a little longer through DR because of everlap etc.

Granted this only holds true for (# of images)>(# of machines). If the situation is reversed, by all means rendering rendering with DR and Backburner would save time.

What's more, one network hiccup and you start losing machines! It really urks me that there's no way to plug/unplug machines from DR while rendering. Another reason I've stuck to stripes until 1.5.
