  • Randmize texture in faces with same orientation (same object)

    Hi,

For a building facade I want to randomize the brick texture in the faces that have the same orientation, see attachment. They are part of a single object/element.

With the UVW randomizer node I can achieve this when a facade is built up of separate elements, but my problem is that this is a single object with those face in the same plane. Is there a way to randomize this?

You could give those faces separate Material IDs (for each their own) and use the VRayUVWRandomizer to randomize by "Face ID". Another way is to detach them to elements and use the "By element" mode.

Great attention for detail, I see a lot of big studios (The Boundary for instance) still make this mistake of not fixing this.

If you want another solution: detach those 'columns' by element and use this modifier: https://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/s...ement-modifier Beware to collapse this modifier if you want to render on a workstation or renderfarm that doesn't have this modifier.

Thanks for the suggestions! I found giving the faces a Face ID is quite efficient and works very well with the UVWrandomizer. Also then I can keep the element intact.
