  • Backburner - Delay Computers Picking Up Jobs?

So this isn't really Vray related but backburner overall. But since its rendering issue thought maybe somebody here might have an idea,
Some jobs I have are really big files so to keep things small I xref my cad data. Everything is great and renders just fine. issue is, when I send a animation to the farm and I have 15 nodes picking up the same file the same xref, I get crash issues which is fixed by taking half the farm offline for 5min or so, once scene loads on the nodes online I put the others online and all good.

Does anybody know of a way to lets say have the backburner server limit how many servers can pickup a job per "x" amount of time?

    Thanks!

That does sound like a backburner issue. Unfortunately backburner is no longer supported by autodesk and will not be updated (I like to use backburner so I can create a render cue and save all vray elements in the exr file, something that max render cue does not support).
Have a look at the error report, maybe it will give you some info on the issue.
Also, backburner does not support files/projects over 2GB, so if with textures and xrefs you go over 2GB, you'll get an I/O file error.

I will soon test Pandora render manager (free and open source), I can post here the results if you want.

      Ohh that would be amazing!
So some of my projects are 100% over 2gb lol, luckily the files are all seperated so I never had an issue with it rendering, just sadly an issue with all the nodes opening the same file to render at once lol.

Just tried install pandora. It crashed max (2025), I've done some search and it seems that 3ds max 2025 uses a newer version of python and PySide. I tried to change in the pandora Py files, but so far not successfuly. Any coders around that can give some help? (Pandora is open source so we can mess with it).
I will also test the aws deadline. But not today.

Ended up installing Smedge. The script also fails in 3ds max 2025 but I was able to make it work. It took me some time to find how to make it load the 3dsMaxCmd, but in the end all worked.
Will do some more tests with bigger projects.
Let me know if you need help with the setup and maxscript, in case you go for this option.
