I'm experiencing an issue with V-Ray on some workstations. All the computers have the same setup—3ds Max 2025 and V-Ray 7. However, on certain machines, the material preview balls in the Slate Material Editor do not display rendered results with shadows. Instead, they appear like the old V-Ray material previews.
I suspect there is a setting to enable or disable preview rendering in the Slate Material Editor, but I’ve checked everywhere and can’t find it. I’ve also tried adjusting the Render Setup and the Custom Default Switcher settings.
As shown below, one preview renders correctly with shadows, while the other appears flat and lacks shadows.
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
