  • Found a few limitations about Clipper, Toon effect.

I was trying to cut some machine in half, and then apply the VRayToon effect on top of it. Then I realized that the toon effect is applied on the objects WITHOUT the clipper. So basically, the meshes are cut in half, but the toon outlines still hang in the air. How bizarre. Fortunately I still have 3dsMax native slicer and tySlicer from tyflow, which saved the day.

The other issue I found was, at the place where the clipper cut a hole, all the hole areas are covered with the outline color in the toon effect.

This is the ideal situation after I replaced vray clipper with tyslicer.

This image below is using vray clipper, the cuts all became a mess:

Also, when I enable/disable the clipper, the VRayCPU IPR doesn't reflect the change. I have to restart the IPR in order to see the result. But tySlicer works perfect.

I don't know why I can't insert more text in this post, so I have to upload as an image.

This is a known issue (internal tracker id: VMAX-2405). I'll add a bump on your behalf.

This is expected. If you wish to keep the original objects' materials, turn on the "Use object material" option in the VRayClipper.

Also a known issue (internal tracker id: VMAX-6120).

    Regarding the two other issues:

    1. .vrmesh export faces preview %: I can't reproduce this. Mind if you attach a simple scene where it is present?
    2. This also works fine on a simple scene. Maybe it affects IPR only and needs a restart? Some features, as already observed, need an IPR restart to take effect. Otherwise, extracting the mesh indeed makes the object lose its keys. I'll write an improvement request for this.

Support for GPU is already logged as (internal tracker id: VGPU-1920).

Thank you so much. I hope in the future, maybe vray 8 or 9, we could have an AI agent inside the plugin to ask about how-to and bugs and logged issues, so that we don't have to waste our time trying to troubleshoot ourselves and ask about them in the forum and waste your time to track and rely as well.

Um...is that a quantum matter post-contextualiser by any chance? It looks like proscribed science shenanigans to me!
