  • High end rigged character for vray\max

Hi all , I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can get a proper quality rigged character for 3dsmax. I need a driver for a high end personal project I'm working on and the typical 3d scanned arch-vis assets just won't cut it.

I'm looking for something that will hold up to reasonably close viewing.. no uncanny valley stuff. at least metahumans level, if only they imported properly to max.

Anyone know of a source? I only need one. I guess the issue is hair and clothes would likely need simulating, but if everything is already set up I can deal with that I expect.

Did you already look at the usual sites? There are some pretty good ones out there, though unclothed mostly, so you'd need to make all the clothes and sim them, which could be an issue.

I also found this which has Maya as an intermediate step but you can do that with a trial version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVREsWfJD9c&t=45s
Although he uses an unclothed model the clothes on the others would presumably work too.

Hi Bart, yeah i saw those tutorials. a pretty involved process, which i believe does not include clothing, ever, or hair etc, plus the fact that i think Epic forbids use of metahumans outside UE.. ok for a personal project but not a good solution to consider for work.

this morning im looking into character creator:

      https://www.reallusion.com/character-creator/

*some* of the resuilts look quite impressive, however im installing the demo and its a confusing mess of add-ons, asset libraries and separate utilities, which make getting your head round its basic capabilities quite confusing. not to mention its asked at least 20x during installation to allow firewall access for a dizzying array of sub-components. that, i dont like.

theres also DAZ which seems to have come on a fair way since last time i looked at it, where it was used almost exclusively for large breasted fantasy women in impractical armour.

Ok, so that is a non-starter and in fact CC looks like a good bet if it'll do what you need. Though all the fiddliness could be irritating, plus the price is steep for a one-off that may/may not perform as you like.

I haven't looked at the Daz site in years and yeah, it seems to have come a loooong way lol. If you can rent it for a month and get what you need done then that looks like a good solution.
It looks like it has some interesting tools too, plus it exports to Max apparently simply.
