  • render server autostart?

Can the vrayspawnerXX.exe not be put in the START UP folder to automatically start upon boot up of the computer? I tired it, but it does not want to open for me. Thanks.

    hi there,

try to open the startup folder manually and if the spawner is there, just delete it... should not load on next reboot

That is what I want to happen....to load automatically so that I do not have to go around to every computer and open it before network rendering. Though, it does not open upon bootup of the computer. I thought that maybe it could not be run in that manner. Perhaps, instead there is just a setting problem in the START UP folder.

Ive created shortcuts to the spawner on all my slaves and its working fine here. I would double check if it is infact a shortcut and not just copied...

so when you turn on each computer the spawner is opening automatically? Now for each computer running the spawner I am getting a message that 3dstudio cannot close until changes are saved...or something like that, when the computer is turned off. What is that all about....since I am not working on the file on that computer.

            @ cristoforo

You can also try the following:

#1 Go to your max folder, where the Spawner is (thru the command line - (Start - Run - cmd)).

Ex: Start - Run - Cmd
            cd\3DsMax7 OR
            c:\Program Files\max7
            "where the 3DsMax is located"

            #2 type: VRaySpawner60.exe -service
            #3 REBOOT !

            Best Regards,

Ok.....it is opening now at boot up. I had it copied instead of making the shortcut in the START UP folder. Is doing it this and placing it as a service the same thing? Or does having it as a service mean that you no longer see the vraydummy bar below?

                Yep, that is correct.

OK.....I have Spawner set up as a service on the computers...working fine.....though, on one computer it is not working.....I receive the message "Render Host xxxxx failed." All the same plug-ins, etc are on that computer...........all the setups are the same.....any suggestions why it is not working? While on the network rendering subject, I also have Backburner set up as a service on the computers. Previously, while backburner was running as a program on each computer it was working fine....as soon as I installed it as a service on the comupters, it is no longer working.....except on one computer. Any ideas here?!?!? Thanks!

                    Hi Cristoforo,

Sounds like network permissions. Have you given the services log on rights?

When you set up either Backburner or VRaySpawner to run as a servive you need to give the service 'Log On' rights.

                    1. Go to 'Control Panel' >> 'Administrative Tools' >> 'Services'

                    2. Right click on the Backburner/VRaySpawner service and click on the 'Log On' tab.

                    3. Give the service a username and password that has read/write rights on your network and also the password mustn't expire.

                    4. Restart the service or reboot the computer.

                    Hope that helps,

                    Dan

                      Daniel,
Unfortunately, our passwords are constantly changing.......it is a bit annoying! The settings in the Log on tab are the same for all the computers....but only one is working. Actually, in the service window it tells me that the service is activated....but the manager does not see that server.

It could be the subnet masks of the servers are incorrect. Have you ever had to change the subnet masks before?

I do not even know what the subnet mask is. Though, if backburner is not loaded as a service it works fine......so it does not seem like a network problem. There must be some hidden setting?
