    Hi Vizioen,

This is a technical release that includes essential backend changes.
We've given it update status to make the timing of these changes easier to identify.
Along with the various bug fixes, this release provides easy access to the full Chaos Scans library (now available in Cosmos) - no specialised Scans license required.

A number of new and exciting features, currently in development, will be delivered with Update 2.

    Regards,
    Konstantin

konstantin_chaos Do u have a date release for Update 2?
You should have named this update 1 as Hotfix 3 btw, an update have a meaning of an important features, it has only Chaos Scans Library.

Well, if there are two major updates within release (as it was in the past), I assume late this or beginning of next year. I had high hopes for update1 after very mixed feelings when I saw vray 7. Normally I update few months after major release when some bugs are iron out, but this time it I upgraded (still perpetual) a few weeks ago, thinking Chaosgroup will deliver with update1... Having said that I agree, if this is technical update, it should be called hotfix as naming it "update" confuse majority of users.
        Best Regards

Does this mean I dont need to pay for chaos scans as part of my subscription fee? Will my costs come down, or does everyone elses go up?

I think it only means that you will have an access to scans directly from cosmos, but of course if you are paying for scans.

That's true - and not entirely true at the same time.
We can render the scans, but a license is required to edit them.
It would be great to have a bit more transparency about this in the release notes.

I confirmed that editing in ScansMtl consumes a Scans license in 7.10.00 official.
I thought that editing was also available to all users.

                  This must be a hotfix.

Quite right, i had my own licenses somehow kicking in still, and so i was wrong.
The scans can be used and rendered, but not edited.
I have no other comment to add on the topic, sorry if i was wrong about it.

Update 2 is scheduled for later this year.
Regarding the version name - as mentioned - it was a deliberate decision, tied to the technical changes we've introduced.

Editing Scanned material properties requires a license.
However, loading default settings and rendering work without a license, so all Scans from Cosmos can be imported and used in a project.
