    Hello everyone!

I need some help please. The plan is to texture the façade panels of a house using PBR materials in order to remain as flexible as possible.
Now I have modelled a very simple facade with Extrude and Boolian and would like to bring in structure with VRayDisplacmentMod.

Unfortunately this does not work. I get very ugly artefacts.

What am I doing wrong here? How should I do this correctly?

    Many thanks in advance!
    Greetings
    Mario

What kind of artifacts? Mind if you share some screencaps or a scene so we can take a look?

Does it get better if you decrease the VRayDisplacementMod's Edge length parameter to f.e. 2px (default is 4px)? It may be caused by the texture quality, too. Attach the scene if the suggestion doesn't help.

Thank you. Well, this is expected with close-ups and displacements - even if you use a procedural texture, it is still made up of pixels, so a straight edge is impossible; you need to decrease the Edge Length (max. length of the triangle after subdivision) quite a bit to get it near-straight, but that, of course, will increase compilation time drastically. In the attached scene, you've disabled the "View-Dependent" option, which I suggest you should turn on since it's better for memory optimization (farther away objects get lower quality displacement, while closer ones get higher). I also suggest blurring the texture very slightly to help minimize the jagged effect. Increasing the image's resolution will help, too, but note that when "View-dependent" is on, the edge length should be adapted to it. Overall, play around with the image resolution, the displacement's edge length, and texture blur to get both reasonable render times and good quality. More info on the mentioned options is written in the docs.
