  • Translucency Tutorial or Reference?

I'm trying to make a nice sheer curtain material. I don't know if I should be using translucency or refract glossiness or fog color or what.

Is there any good reference material on this? I don't see much of anything in the vray manual but perhaps I'm looking in the wrong spot. I'd just really like to have something that explains how all the parameters related to refraction and translucency intertwine, rather than having someone just say "use these settings"... although that would be better than nothing.

    Thanks.

There are some good tutorials on www.aversis.be. Translucency is not explained in depth though, so I too would be interested if you find something!

Translucency is explained quite well in here

      http://www.richardrosenman.com/vray_absorption.htm

Not related to curtains directly, but quite instructive..
Richard site is great, worth surfing for a few minutes while you are there

As well, take a look at this
      http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...ghlight=saluto

Saluto is sharing his curtain mat. probably what you are looking for

      Hope it helps..

Thanks for those links both of you. I'd seen those sites a while ago, but I couldn't remember where they were, and I needed a refresher.

That curtain material of Saluto's is really nice, thanks for pointing me there.
