  • basic glass material

With refract set to pure white, the glass should be completely transparent and light should pass, correct? I feel as though not enough light is passing though my windows. Suggestions?

The glass material will stop some of the light, especially environment light. I always add vray lights at my windows to get as much light in as I can.

increase your Refraction Depth to around 20, make sure you have Affect shadows ticked, and maybe fake it a little with some internal lights.

Also make sure you have Refractive GI caustics enabled.

            Vlado ..

Why would that affect the amount of light going through the glass?

because his light is skylight which is pure GI light as opposed to a max light which is pure light (before its 1st bounce) so refractive GI is needed so that GI light can go through transpaent materials (shame on your natty. you should know your theory hehehe) (unless my explanation is wrong then ill feel like a fool)

Everything... Like Da_elf pointed out, skylight going through glass is considered GI caustics... which is why you need to have those enabled.

Isn't that checked by default when you install vray?

Your glass is probably reflective too, so that is why not all light will pass, a part is reflecting back.
