  • colour mapping with latest builds

Is it me, or does Exponential Colour Mapping not work too well with the latest builds of Vray? (I'm 99.9% sure it is just me!)

With 1.09r, I used Exponential extensively with interior shots and I had very good results - multiplying the dark multiplier to about 3, but leaving the bright multiplier at 1. It balanced out the images well.

With 1.47.03, the same settings make my images/animations look dreadful - like a weird washing out with some colours changing as well. Its a bit tricky to describe.

    What should I be doing?
    Kind Regards,

Go into Environment and make sure your exposure control is set to <no exposure control>

I think 1.09 used to overide max's exposure control but the newer builds do not. Therefore it blows out scenes if set to anything else.

Just checked - it is already set to none. Any other tips?

tricky, for exponential color mapping keep the bright and dark multiplier to the same value. In the 1.09 versions, the bright multiplier was ignored in exponential mode.

Now I understand why I couldn't find many search results on this forum. The infamous spelling of 'Colour/Color'.
