There´s an extra benefit when using rpf files in combustion. Now in combustion 4 u can extract camera information embedded in the rpf, and use it with your 3d comps. I have used it to incorporate a photobackground into a 3d render with its correct parallax and scrolling without having to animate that layer. The only thing moving is the cam!My Youtube VFX Channel - http://www.youtube.com/panthon

I can´t check in combustion 3 but maybe u are right!
Nevertheless it´s an amazing feature and sometimes sort of overlooked
Lately i´ve been discovering in the rpf format what i was looking for in exr. If rpf was capable of providing extra channels like reflection, refractions and such, it would be the greatest format.
A little OT question: Is it possible for VRAY to render occluded geometry? My Youtube VFX Channel - http://www.youtube.com/panthon

In 3ds Max, the material/object IDs are defined as integer numbers, which is why these elements are integers (and so are not antialiased). On the other hand, V-Ray for Maya allows you to use colors for material IDs, and so the material ID element is a color one and is properly antialiased. There are sufficiently many options in V-Ray to get anitaliased masks for what you need.
With that said, newer versions of V-Ray will have an option in the VRayMaterialID and VRayObjectID render elements to produce colors instead of integers, which can be properly antialiased.
