  • Problem

    Hi all,
Am having major problems with Vray being very unstable, in that if I have larger file sizes (Architectual rendering) and try and render a file of say 4000* whatever pixels then it constantly crashes max. It does the same on all my machines, some are p4 one is an AMD 4200 X2. all have 2gig of ram.
Is this just a normal problem, or is there something i might be doing wrong?

Thats very dificult to answer with no information about the scene your trying to render. Most likely it's a memory issue. Your running out! Take a look at Task Manager to see how much memory your using while rendering. Have you tried the 3 gb switch for windows? Do a search here for info.

Try using vray proxys to help with the memory issues if you have a lot of trees or something else that require a lot of memory. It saved my butt several times on large scenes I was having a problem with.

Vray is normally very stable, at least until you run out of memory. Just like any other program you might use if you run out, it will crash.

      few things you can try,
1-render to a .*vrimg format, it renders straight to the hard disk so that will reduce the memory size.
2-render through backburner to reduce memory
3-switch to dynamic memory in your system rollout, it will render slower but it will render. You can increase the memory in MBs to get it to render slightly faster.
4-email me your settings and I can let you know what to tweak to get it working

yeah your just hitting your memory limit and its causing vray/max to crash.

Try all the info above and you should be fine. Also I believe there is a bit of info in the vray help index about bypassing memory problems but it seems like most or all of its been listed here.
