  • Gi and reflections...

Does it make any difference to the Gi solution if you turn off reflections/refractions in the global switch panel before creating your irmap and lightcache. I found that if I left reflections/refractions on the Gi solution takes much longer to compute.
Disabling it makes for a much faster solution, and after switching the refs back on it looks pretty much identical. If it doesnt make a difference to the solution why does it take so much longer to compute.

    Thanks

if you have reflections/refractions turned on, gi is being transmitted from those points (reflected/refracterd). Thats why it takes longer, but luminance difference is not that notaceble.

there are also points computed that you only see in the reflection...perhaps a wall behind the camera...

correct. if you get in the habit of turning off reflections during irradiance map creation, one day it will come back and bite you in the butt.
