  • g buffer reflections = DR doesn't do G-buffer?

Ok..... so it appears you can't have a g-buffer channel with a DR?

no dr does not do gbuffer. at least with the 03 version, also keep in mind that dr does not support pixel aspect changes. Only default.

Vlado - how about a patch update? This is a small request?

As far as I'm told, newer versions of vray will be able to render gbuffers in distributed mode, and as a side note, DR will allow u to render even animations, not only stills as it does now. Besides all this, it will be more robust/stable.

              Yes, 1.47.03.
              ?

Would be hlepful if I could get a patch (valdo) to do G-buffer DR. Rendering 100+ stills of the same image with different materials.

Animation? What is the point? It is the same as network rendering 1 frame per machine? I already use DR to render the animation IRR map.

Morbid- Not sure what you mean? Please explain...

Edit: ....I guess I wasn't using DR for animation IRR (I just tried it and it doesn't work)

well, DR at this point is limited in number of things. Big resolution rendering could be problematic, gbuffers, animation etc. 3ds max supports strip rendering through backburer. Its a network job but when you submit it to manager, you check split scanlines, and specify the number of scanlines to be split, lets say you have 10 nodes to render an image you can say 10 strips which would send 1/10 of an image to each box, then after each strip is rendered they will be autostiched into final image. This is not dr, but and anternative, works well on large images and etc.

Ah yes - afriad that is what you were talking about.

This is not a big image - just the same image 100 times with a different material on different objects. I need to g-buffer the reflection colors.

DR was helping to render ea image a lot faster.

well since dr doesnt render gbuffer what you could do is send 100 images to the manager and treat it as a network render. But i see your point. Plus, remember that dr does not support image aspect ratio changes, so if you have anything other then 0.9

Hey - I am back! I just re-figured out (for the last 6 hours) what you said here repeatedly 6 months ago.

NO PIXEL ASPECT with DR. Ack!

Need to render some big anamorphic pan&scans. We are hosed?

In fact, it was quite a complex one to implement... but like it's been said, this is already done in newer builds. If you desperately need this, you can email me.

                              Best regards,
