color data in render buffer

I don't know if this is a vray question or max 8. We upgraded nearly at the same time.

I want to check the rgb value of a few pixels and am a bit confused at the numbers I am seeing.

Is there a way to switch it to show rgb values in either hsv, or rgb 32bit?

These enormous numbers, although probably useful, are not at all useful to me, but I don't know how to switch it back.

I'd rather not have to save each image just to see what certain colors are lising as.

It's a 3dsmax thing; it's been annoying me as well, but I don't know how to change this :-/
