After testing both Mental Ray and Vray engines in an interior scene we have come to a conclusion as Morbid Angel says:
"guys, now we all know that the right amount of photons and fg/lc gi can produce a relatively close render times in both engines, however now try applying some effects to the scene like glossy reflections to the floor for example, use displacement, turn on motion blur or dof....good luck mental ray"
I am using the test scene from my previous MR vs Vray Interior thread.

I have just added glossy reflections to the floor otherwise the scene setup and the GI setup remains the same.
First of all I rendered the scene in MR using DGS material with glossies:
MR render time: 4:40

Vray render took 8:15

MR render still has a couple of those nasty light leaks but I believe with the right tweaking those can go off and it is still going to be pretty fast.
As for the vray scene I have tried a couple of different combinations (tweaking refl.gloss.subdivs, switching to adaptive QMC) but anything either took even longer or there was more noise then the MR render has.
If anyone has any suggestions please share.
Both scenes can be downloaded here:
Max7, mental Ray
Max7, Vray
