  • How to fake such thing?

I would like to fake a reflection on a flat surface that has the look of a curved object. I have a box and the box should be shiny silverish with a blur on it. Aplying such a material on a round surface will give me the result i need. However applying the same material on a flat surface, it s just plane dull and no highlight etc. I do know that the keyfactor is the curved object. But how can i fake such thing with vray or without but still make it look metallic. I use the override reflection function with an hdri map. Any ideas ?

    Cheers

could you use something in the bump slot, like a large noise map or wave map or even a radial gradient map....

Show an image what exactly you want to get.

well a sphere will have atleast a few faces facing the light source. a box probably wont. what you can do is bevel the edges to give something that will have a highlight
