  • AEC Walls get double faces.

    Hi all!

One thing about AEC Walls that really bothers me and have done so since it got implemented in MAX is that sometimes the wall corners get double faces. VRay do not handle this as I want and does light calculations, both Light Cache and Irrmaps, go black.

Is there a way for VRay to ignore that? I have put an "edit poly" on it and corrected it that way but that is very cumbersome, especially if I need to modify a wall afterwards.

    cheers!

    Two options:

    A) Don't use AEC walls. They always do this. No amount of modifiers will fix it without actually modifying the geometry. AEC walls are just really bad geometry.

    B) In the Vray global render settings, set the Secondary Rays Bias to higher than 0. .01 or .02 should be sufficient. This will increase your rendertime though, and may produce other artifacts.

      Thanks man!

I guess AEC Walls is not one of Autodesks biggest inventions.

you can usually drop an editable poly modifyer on there and in the elements group there is usually a square piece in the corner than can be deleted. the aec walls are nice to use since scanline doesnt have a problem with them. vray also doenst have a problem when you play with your bias.
