  • Animatin flickering

    Hello everybody,

first, yes I read the other postings about animation flickering. I got flickering reduced, but it is still present, mostly in corners and/or at very bright object.
I used adaptive subdivision for image sampling with
    -1 2 (min,max) and 0,01 for threshold.

I tried various setting for the irradiance map and finaly ended up using the medium-animation preset. Further I used the multiframe incremental setting and lightcache 0,02 world flythrought setting.

I would be very thankful for some ideas to reduce the flickering.

    Thank you.

    Greetings.

    Markus

Just a moving camera? If so you need to use a saved imap.

it can be eather your irmap or light cache. in both cases you need to precalculate your irmap to avoid flickering, or have the samples set quite high.

I can't understand if it's the GI or the textures flickering...
If it's the textures, you'll have to use a mix of filtering/supersampling to get them stable.

Speaking of which: Vlado, would it be possible to have a VRAYmap, or better an external utility, that does something akin to Mr's ellyptical filtering?
It's a real pity to have the GI be so quick across an animation, and oftentimes having to raise AA sampling to keep the texture detail from buzzing.

It´s the GI that is flickering.

Best to save imaps for every nth frame (every 20th to 50th works in most cases). This can be done on one machine using incremental to save the final imap or they can be rendered out seperately on backburner and then merged using imap viewer. You are guaranteed a stable GI solution using these methods.

i usually use every 10th frame in half of the siza of the final render (pal in my case).
about aa use 0,2 it does reduse some flickering that are visible in -1,2
