  • DR via Backburner, is this possible?

A client of mine is considering buying (3) Blade servers, each containing (10) Dual Xeon blades in each. To use as they're main render farm, currently they have to manually add computers when people leave for the day. What they're looking to do beyound using it as a renderfarm is to also use it for DR. But the supervisor I deal with wants to know if there is a way with VRay to send out a job for DR, yet not utilize the workstation that sent it? Basically disabling the local processors for rendering.

I told them I don't think it's possible, as Max wouldn't allow it. And if they wanted to do something like that, they would have to have a seperate machine to send scenes to use DR. Which I know they would just stick someone on the that machine and it would never get used for that purpose.

But is there a way to send a frame out to Backburner also set to DR and have the renderfarm tagteam on it?
