LC saved/used on higher res ?

I regularly calculate IR map with say, 1024 x 768 res, and then save and use it on double the resolution. Usually works great. My question is....can I use a saved LC map from a lower resolution on a higher resolution render ? I havent had time to try it out, which I know I should before asking in a post. I have had very little spare time lately in front of my own computer.

My understanding is that lightcache is resolution independant - so it doesnt matter what size you render and save your LC solution out to.

In short, yes, you can use a LC created at lower res. Look at these examples from the help index which deal with this very topic:
