    Hi everyone

    Just wanted to know if there are people out there who have used both Mentalrays ambient occlusion and Vrays dirt shader, and would like info on a comparison between the two. For instance does the VRay one work with the same principle and produce similar results? is it quicker? As i understand it, (loosely) most implementations of the ambient occlusion shading method are similar to each other ie Mentalray,Renderman, Air etc as such i am curious to know if the VRay version follows the same path.

    Not sure how the two compare, but there is a VRay ambient occlusion script that works very well. You can find it here...http://plugins.angstraum.at/vrayao/index.htm

      That was more a dome/skylight setup, with ambient occlusion it works both on external and internal environs dome/skylights only really work on externals. I guess this is a sticky post heh heh

        There is a pretty long discussion thread about VRay´s Ambient occlusion shader. It is pretty fast and works pretty well (not the script mentioned here, vray also has a true AO map). Just try the forum search.
