  • Standing seam roof Displacement artefacts

    Hi guys,

I have tried everything I know but this still renders with nasty errors.
The roof plane is perfectly planar (I applied Make Planar faces), all smoothing groups have been wiped out.
I am using 3D displacement with a simple texture map (shown bellow) for the standing seam.
Any ideas how to fix this ?

I'll assume you modeled this in cad package and imported it. See morbid's post here... http://www.chaosgroup.com/forum/phpB...t=displacement but there's really no good solution. Can you use 2D instead?
    www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.

Well OK, just for everyone to know switching to 2D displacement solved that completely :P

Always remember that 3D displacements as well as VRayFur need a pre-subdivided mesh, quads best.
