sudden slowdown

so before i go to lunch i am doing some lighting test renders, then while at lunch i decide to render a slightly higher res, higher quality version. when i get back it hasnt even finished computing the first pass. so i cancell and set my setting back to my draft levels. now everything is rendering slow. my test renders where rendering at about 1 min each and now the same settings everything its taking at least 5 minutes.

what could have happened, what can i do?

probably as you made the higher settings then reverted back some setting was left that causes your scene to render slow. I suggest switch to scanline and back to vray and try again.
