Just trying to anticipate a work flow.
If I have a completed render with saved IRR and LC maps, and the client wants a slight change to the design, would I have to recalculate both maps for the entire scene before doing a region render of the changed area?

if the changes affect objects, like changed mesh, added objects then yes, if its just color/texture changes then you can get away with not doing the recal.

Color changes would effect the GI, I would say they still effect the maps. There are very few conditions (or none that I can tthink of) that would not require a recalc. The maps are affected by the geo, the lighting, the shaders, and are camera dependent. If you change anyone of those, you have to recalc.

indeed. however if you change the color, you can still get away with the gi, for some cases, it wont be as noticeble as changed objects.

Mmmm, that's what I thought. I can see times when a colour/map change is required, I could get away without a recalc...even if not technically acurate.
