  • Creating a mving background sun

I am working on an animation project and one of the shots requires the sun rising behind the building as if in a morning timelapse - Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

debevec's hdr timelapse skies might also be useful....it's nice and free

          example:
          http://gl.ict.usc.edu/skyprobes/skycapture_poster.mov

you can get the hdr's here:

vue infinite e-on software, nice environments, skies and planets, animatable, renders rla/rpfs...
maybe the "smaller" versions of vue also come with the planets

why not just get timelaps footage off the net from somewhere like ww.gettyone.com 's video section. then match your 3d sun possition to the video footage. throw in some post production lensflare and it will integrate your building with the background

Those skyprobes are damned hard to use because of really high value within the HDRI even when i set the multiplier to .005 the renders where always noisy.

yes, i agree - debevec's timelapse probes are a bit hard to work with. i think that's beacause of an extreme range in them. it can be countered with some blurring and resizing, but at the expense of shadow detail (never managed to have any detailed shadows with hdr anyways...)
