  • Video Over Network

    Hi

I am trying to view avi files over the network - main file is on the server. It plays fine on the server which has had the various relavant codecs installed. Also, the other machines have the same codecs installed.

The avi is encoded with the Intel Indeo 5 codec which is pretty standard and shouldn't be a problem.

Any ideas as I have tried everything that I know - even installed backburner.

    thanks

      Error is

'Windows media player cannot play this file'

It mentions the codec might not be supported but, I have all the relavant codecs installed on all machines.

I simply want to view them.

The avi plays find both from the server and on the destination machine when copied to it.

It will not play over the network.

Do you think it would be possible to switch from avi to quicktime? Quicktime 7 with the new H.264 format offers high quality and moderate filesize...and it's free

Good point, maybe it should have gone in the Take 5 section but, you shouldn't get too precious Tricky !
