        Wow! Thanks!
Really nice, just as I wanted.
I'll scrutinize this scene and try to learn as much as I can.
For the others, here's what it looks like:

            Glad you liked it Marc.
Dont forget the water needs some nice reflection to really look the part

Yeah it certainly is too dark.. I had accidentally lowered the multiplyers too low before uploading the scene. But im sure he will sort it out.

Yep, I managed to get it brighter
With the real product it's so nice that I think I'll make an animation.
Correct me if I'm wrong; The caustic map is camera-independant so I could compute the map once and then use it for a camera "walkthrough".
But for it to be of interest, the water should be animated so it's back to a caustic solution by frame...

                Excellent!!!

Yes, caustics maps are camera independant.
But i would advise you calc it each frame so you get the lovely moving caustics

I look forwarding to seeing the finished product (if thats even possible with your NDA)

Yep, I think I'll be able to post it.
If I resolve a backburner problem first...
I'll search the forum for an existing answer first.

I'm having a problem getting the water to animate.
I've made these parameters change over time in the noise modifier:
-Seed (going from 0 to 2)
-Iterations (going from 6 to 5 then back to 6)
-Strenght in Z (going from 6 to 5 then back to 6)
-Phase (going from 0 to 5 and back to 1)
-The "Animate Noise" check box is checked.

                      Any idea?
I can upload the scene if that's of some relevance.

                      Thanks,
                      -Marc

simple. change the noise offset. this way it wont just change how the ripple looks but will also make it look like the ripple is going from one side to the next by wind....oh. opps. your using a noise modifyer? hehe thought it was a simple bump. why are you using a noise modifyer? why not a bump?

It's DaForce who put it that way... He must had a good reason.
I'll try with a noise bump and the setting you suggest,
                          Thanks,

I think I found why DaForce used a noise modifier instead of a noise bump map; my test renders went from 2 minutes to 22 minutes!
There must be a way to animate this nicely as a noise modifier?

Ok, I reverted to a noise modifier on the plane that makes the water and removed the keyframes I added and kept the checkbox "animate noise" checked.
                              And now it works! :P
Maybe I put too many parameters and max was mixed up
Anyway renderings are being computed, should be able to post something soon.

maybe you can lower your z displace on the noise modifyer and add a wave modifyer as well and have that animated .this way you get wave action as well as the noise to break it up from being too "perfect" a wave
