What is probably even more interesting is if you look at it the other way around. If you took the total 3dsmax market, you may find that a very large percentage of the user base are archviz. I would bet that there are more Vray users then Renderman and probably very close to mental ray in the total 3d world. Now that is just a guess in based on a few assumptions. Someone should make a poll on cgtalk.

I should note that my above statment means nothing even if true... There are a lot more Hondas sold than Rolls Royces, but it does not make them better cars.

So all Max? No Maya at all? No Lightwave or Cinema4D?

I don't know for sure or anything but I think the "24.9% None" explains this. The question was "What 3rd party renderer do you use?" Well, if you use C4D or LightWave, you're probably using the built in renderer. And, some of the Mental Ray use could have been in Maya or XSI even.

I remember taking that survey. At the time, I was a Mental Ray user and answered accordingly, but in the past 2 months, I've rolled production over to Vray. I dropped MR like a hot steaming turd when my very first test render looked 10 times better then my best scene in MR. Go Chaos Group and keep on keeping yourselvs stink free.

Allthough DR is kind of stinky.... might want to spray some febreeze on that one.

Oh, and I'm the proud owner of 2 Hondas!
