  • Locked up rendernode

I've got a rendernode here that won't process any scenes throug back burner or DR.
When I try to send anything to it, the processors sit at 25% and nothing gets processed.

I've tried rebooting, resetting BB server.

Has anyone else experienced this with BB?

was that included in one of the service packs for max 8?
We have several nodes all set up the same way, this one machine is the only one we have this problem with.

            OK, still not working.
I tried deleting and replacing the vraydummy60 MAX and XML files(located under max8/network). I replaced them with the files located under the max root dir.
Uninstalling and reinstalling BB (both for max 8 and max7)
            rebooted and it still hangs.

The bad node launches maxand loads the scene. It hangs while displaying Building Lightcache under the rendering window.

It seems as though its able to connect, but not render the scene.

could there be something else I'm overlooking here? There are no maps or IES files in the scene that need to be loaded over the network.

What are the specs of the master and slave? Also are both installs exactly the same, same plugins? same ini's same plugin versions?

Just tried a different scene. its back to hanging at 25% CPU

                Master Specs
opteron 265 4gig of ram Max 8 Vray 1.47.03 (win XP)

                Slave Specs
dual opteron 270 4 gig ram Max8 Vray 1.47.03 (win XP 64 bit)

All pugins are the same, Vray, simian etc... the test scene I'm using souldn't be using any plugins other than Vray.

As for the .ini there is alot of stuff in there ......the directories at the bottom are different because the program locations are slightly different. But this shouldn't affect the the file being loaded right? What should I be looking at there?

I would suggest you make all your machines use the same version of vray. You never know....

                    TYPO
                    They're all using 1.47.03.

I don't know what else I can do for the Max-Vray setup.
I'm beginning to wonder if its a network issue.
Has anyone had problems with windows server licences? We currently have two or three more machines than licences, but our IT guy seems to think there is a little leeway there,

We have win64 installed on the slaves, and 32 bit on the master, but I've read here that people are using the two together all the time with no problem.

                      Bret,

Have you tried rendering a scene with Max scanline renderer and BBurner?

As a follow up. I had to uninstall BB and Max 8, plugins and reinstall.
                          Now its working fine.
