Min subdivs override in QMC rollout...

Hi guys,
The min subdivs override in QMC rollout is not working for me for some reason...i keep all my mats at 8 subdivs and set min subdivs in render dialogue to 25, but it doesnt seem to do what it is supposed to for me...any hints perhaps? am I missing something?
