  • Irmap settings for animation

    Hi peeps,

Just about to start an animation and have a quick question

When calcing the ir map every nth frame, is it ok to do the calcs at half
the finished frame size as you would with a still image, or would doing this
cause potential problems in an animation

I'm going to be using medium-animation preset with 50 Hsph and my final
frame size will be 720x576, so potentially, would rendering the irmap
every nth frame at 360x288 be ok, or would i need to go to
    high-animation preset

    cheers all
    steve

that is usualy what i do and it works fine for all animations (i use every 10th frame).
I change the blur gi into 0 instead of 8.

Cheers for the reply gili, when you render the ir at half the frame size
do you use the medium or high-animation preset

Also, what effect does setting the blur gi from 8 to 0 have

      thanks

        i use medium preset.
blur gi set to 8 just seems to f##k up the quality of the rendered image (i think its a mistake that it is set to 8 on medium animation preset).
you'll get those black artifacs in the corner of walls when using 8.

          Hi Steve
I usually use the normal medium setting (not animation) and have the HSph sub at 60 and the Interp Samp at about 30 then render it at half the output size every 20th to 25th frame and for most cases this seems to be enough.

if you set the blur gi higher than 0 you might find problems with light leaking in corners as it just blurs the solution from what i understand.

The Blur GI value has effect when there are moving objects in the scene.
When talking for Fly-throughs arch stuff it should be kept at 0.0
