That was a very old version of the arnold code and no where near as good as the max version. That said marcoss never followed up and lost a lot of money - it was a very good renderer at the time. They've changed the name to cyclops and it's the in house renderer at illion and it's probably a hell of a lot better now.

There is Kray for lightwave, which is somehow similar to vray but have a better solution for baking textures and a different(more easier setup) handling of GI.

I was impressed of it's speed and integration...

But after your reactions guys it seams to me like I take Cinema and wait for Vray to be ready for it . Or is it any other package that is worth trying and buying? Maybe XSI? ... and will work with our lovely V-ray?
Yeah, Cinema is really cool. Very customizable and a lot under the hood that you wouldn't expect. XSI is really a great program and, personally I would probably go with it over Cinema (I own both) if I had to make a choice. The studio where I work is tunning more and more to Cinema because of things like Mograph, Hair, thinking particles and clothhide. I got XSI for home/personal use and it can do just about anything but there are some things that I am starting to see as just being easer and faster to do in Cinema. Also, with XSI, if you want hair you have to bump up to the 6,000$ version and that's not OK with me. With Cinema it's just a 400$ module and you can just keep adding those modules as you need them.

That said, XSI is better for character animation. So, if that's your thing, your going to be disappointed by Cinema in comparison... Although, that will change with the next version.

it's DEFINITELY more direct to do it in C4D.
The fR engine that powers it is WAY more tuned to archviz than MR.
Faster, cleaner, more apt tto the task.

thanx for nice advices about XSI vs C4D
btw. have anybody tried to contact "CG Architect" about subscribing to pre-order list for V-ray for C4D? I already did, but I didn't get any respond from stuff.
